The top-of-the-line Acoustech 7.1 PL-980-12 system is designed and engineered to please even the most discriminating audiophiles! Unlike most horn floor speakers on the market, the PL-980s floor speakers incorporate a 3-way multi-driver design rather than a 2-way design for improved performance. Although many 2-way floor speakers offer outstanding performance, the PL-980’s 3-way design enhances and refines mid frequencies which enables an extended soundstage, dynamic range and frequency response. Their imaging and lifelike sound is as if looking through the performance stage front to back, very much like what is experienced audibly and visually at a live performance.

Each PL-980 includes two high power 8” active woofers to deliver low-frequency output. Two 8” passive radiators eliminate port noise while extending the bass even further. Closed back 5” midrange drivers prevent interference from the 8” woofers while delivering detailed, dimensional sound in the all-important 1000Hz – 5000Hz articulation frequency range.

The custom-designed and engineered 6.5” mid/high-frequency horn tweeters in this system produce lifelike sound rich in clarity and achieve staggering high output to 119 dB (live rock band levels). The PL-28II centre speaker is specially designed to recreate voices and centre effects in movies. For extra low bass extension, it includes two high power 8″ woofers offering enhanced sound coverage of the listening area— regardless of where you’re seated. The PL-66 surrounds have angled cabinets to enable wide dispersion reflection throughout the room.

Completing the system, the top-rated 12” PL-200 II subwoofer is powered by a state-of-the-art BASH amplifier capable of delivering up to 1000-watts dynamic peak output. Its heavy-duty long-throw 12” woofer can move an impressive volume of air with exquisite control, even when being driven at the highest levels. Dual flared front ports enable an even transition of sound and dramatically boost deep bass frequencies, with a virtually flat response down to 20Hz. Wide port flares eliminate port noise and heavy-duty cabinet bracing eliminates unwanted cabinet vibrations. The front porting also enables extra placement flexibility, including the option of being placed or built into a cabinet.

All Acoustech Platinum Series speakers come in elegant enclosures with hand-rubbed black lacquer tops and bottoms. This extra step ensures each cabinet has a deep gloss shine that is more scratch-resistant than most lacquer finishes on the market.
