Spirit 6 - Dynamic voice reproduction by excellence

To only reduce the Spirit 6 to its extraordinary abilities as center speaker does not cover the whole spectrum which this exceptional allround talent is able to deliver. Spirit 6 was constructed as center speaker in high class multichannel setups but can also be used as front- or surround speaker. Due to the ultimately precise silk dome tweeter which is surrounded by two mid/bass drivers in D'Appolito arrangement, Spirit 6 is capable to reproduce any signal in a natural and accurate way. Even the bass is deeper and more powerful than expected which makes this speaker extremely flexible in every way.

 Drivers

The higher frequencies are reproduced by an excellent 25mm slik dome tweeter in waveguide execution. The waveguide optimizes the dispersion pattern and minimizes the distortions by increasing the efficiency. Both factors contribute to the precise and dynamic sound reproduction of Spirit 6. The 5 1/2" mid/bass drivers in c-cone sandwich construction are presented in D'Appolito arrangement to ensure a perfect radiation for music and film enjoyment. In combination with the tweeter, they provide highest dynamics and a nearly perfect impulse response.

 Sound Tuning

The backside of the Spirit 6 offers a jumper which can be used to adjust the tweeter level to the prevailing room acoustics and the personal preferences. Furthermore it is possible to use the attached plugs to close the bass reflex ports in order to alter the basic characteristics of the speaker. The lower boundary frequency can be adjusted this way. These room tuning possibilities are also very helpful when Spirit 6 is used directly on or near a wall.

 Cabinet

In order to maintain highest precision also in the deepest bass, the front baffle of Spirit 6 was made from 25mm MDF. The side walls are also made from MDF and are 18mm thick. This solid construction is minimizing any internal resonances together with the large amount of damping material which is brought in. Thus the drivers are able to work under best circumstances and play even deep sound with highest dynamics and minimum distortions.

 Surface

Spirit 6 is lacquered in an ornate multilayer paint which is available in matte black and matte white. Both variants are perfectly polished and contribute to the amazing look of the speaker. In combination with the classic yet modern design, the chosen colours leave an ultimate high-quality impression.

 Terminal

The gold plated screw terminal guarantees an optimum lock for your speaker cables. Thus a safe connection and best signal transmission can be ensured. In addition the terminal contains the jumper for the adjustment of the tweeter.

 Front Cover

The pluggable cover protects the drivers on the one hand from dust and on the other from possible damage. To ensure perfect sound transmisssion, the cover is sound transparent and does not have any influence on the sound of the speaker.

 Tweeter

The tweeter of the Spirit series is a 25mm silk dome which has already proven its great abilities concerning its power handling and impulse response. It is driven by a high performance magnet system to optimize the sensitivity, dynamics and power handling. The cooling is provided by a low viscosity ferro fluid and a high power alloy voice coil made of aluminum and copper. Due to the waveguide technology the relative SPL capacity and sensitivity increases which leads to a minimized distortion both in high and low playback volume. The waveguide helps further to balance the dispersion in a perfect way to give a similar sound character independent of the angle. Furthermore, the waveguide allows a lower crossover frequency which makes the dispersion pattern of the mid/bass driver match the pattern of the tweeter. Thus, the overall dispersion is perfectly balanced and controlled. The dome itself has a built-in protection against damages and finds back to its original shape after a gentle push. To ensure a stiff and stable connection to the cabinet, the front is made out of 5mm thick massive aluminium covered with rubber to dampen resonances.

 Midrange / Woofer Driver

The mid/bass driver originates our own development laboratory and is customized to fit the Spirit speakers perfectly. Its membrane consists of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and a long fiber pulp mixture in a special sandwich construction to even further increase its stiffness. Due to the lightweight materials, the cone provides an extraordinary stiffness-weight ratio and reduces resonances effectively. The spider is made of a mixture of cotton with nomex fiber. To ensure a nearly perfect impulse response, a specially developed and extremely strong magnet system is used. Its linearity provides a long stroke without compression and enables the speaker to handle a wide frequency range. Thus, the speaker can perform any stroke with highest accuracy. The voicecoil wire is made of a high temperature alloy of aluminium and copper to ensure an effective heat dissipation. To further avoid any edge resonances, a specially customized butylrubber surround is used.

 Crossover

The ornate frequency crossover ensures a perfect transition between the drivers. Thus the frequency crossover as well as the phase transition are optimized to provide maximum listening pleasure. The high class capacitors and low impedance coils ensure a perfect signal transmission. To further minimize any unintended influences, the internal cables consist of high purity copper which reduces the transmission resistance.

 Sound Tuning

Since every room is unique from an acoustical point of view, the speakers of the Spirit series are equipped with several room tuning possibilities. The bassreflex ports on the backside can be closed with the attached plugs which alters the basic characteristics of the speaker. It is for example possible to place the speaker near a wall and drive it in closed mode to compensate the bass increase due to the walls. Furthermore there is a jumper located at the terminal of the speaker which can be used to adjust the tweeter level to the prevailing acoustics and the personal preferences.
