KEF Q800ds Dipole Surround Speaker (Pair). Reproducing most of the soundtrack effects, the rear surround are one of the most crucial additions in any home theatre surround sound system, and the KEF Q800ds rear effect speakers are engineered accordingly.
Your listening enjoyment is noticeably enhanced by the addition of the Q800ds dipole to convey the left and right rear channels. With the two 130mm (5.25in.) Uni-Q arrays on each speaker playing out of phase, ambient 3-D effects are completely diffused throughout the listening area to create an uncanny illusion of actually being there, whether that's deep in the rainforest, in a concert arena or driving along a gritty urban back street.

The beauty of KEF's Q800ds Dipole Surround Speaker is that it's created specifically for home theater system setups. The dipole (which merely means the speaker fires out of phase) creates the realistic sound imaging that gives you that fully immersed feeling. Not only does it throw a little realism your way, the dipole feature and a groovy trapezoid design that makes it more flexible when it comes to placement. Take it from KEF: be there or be square.
Deeper, tighter and more accurate bass. Featuring rigid new aluminium cone technology just like the Uni-Q array, the Q Series advanced bass driver is a tour de force in its own right. A die-cast aluminium chassis rigidly locates the high efficiency vented magnet assembly to prevent unwanted resonance, and the large (50mm) voice coil ensures impressive power handling. Its musicality is impeccable: seductively tuneful and well controlled, and on the floorstanding models, complemented by dedicated front-firing auxiliary bass radiators (ABRs).
KEF's latest version of the Uni-Q array uses state-of-the-art technology (and makes it affordable). The vented tweeter design makes clarity a priority and insures a smooth transition to midrange frequencies thanks to KEF's Stiffened Dome technology. Adding the new Tangerine Waveguide to the tweeter protects the dome and improves the efficiency and sound dispersion at the highest frequencies. Matched directivity (mounting the tweeter in the center of the bass driver) improves the uniformity of the tonal balance across the listening area improving off-axis stereo imaging.
For lows and mids, the new aluminum driver cones and large aluminum voice coils deliver fast, clean response at high power levels. The Z-flex surround gets rid of the conventional half-roll and adds one that allows simple deformations at low frequencies, but resists complex deformations in the midrange. The result is clear, unsmeared sound. But, beyond all this techno-speak, the Uni-Q array does one thing and does it well disperse sound evenly throughout the room.
A holistic approach with no compromises. The performance envelope of these sensational new drive units is so generous that the signal needs minimal intermediation - simple first order crossovers are all that's required, as you can tell from the transparency of the sound and the inaudibly fluent transitions.
