The Aethos amplifier expands upon the hugely successful Elex-R and Elicit-R amplifiers, using a 125W dual mono design and a fully discrete FET-based line amplifier with polypropylene capacitors and high reservoir capacitors. A high current output stage of four 160W Sanken transistors per channel provides power to the speakers.
Improvements have been made to the passive volume control and line amplifier stages, originally developed for the Elex-R, to produce a high performance circuit with discrete FET op-amps Linear Systems LSK389, and the well-respected RK27 Blue Velvet potentiometer. The pre-amplifier uses close tolerance components to ensure accurate volume control tracking as well as reducing noise and input overload.
The power amplifier section of the Aethos is an improved higher power version of the circuit used in the Elicit-R and Elex-R, after extensive engineering research. Two pairs of complementary 160W Sanken Darlington output transistors produce a low impedance Class A driver stage. The output stage is configured in dual mono, allowing each channel to perform independently without interference, producing 125W of power per channel easily.
